United States expects 1.24 million visitors for World Cup
A new report estimates that over 1.24 million international fans will travel to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026. Hotel room demand is expected to spike — with hotel bookings rising by as much as 25% — driven by surge in international arrivals and multiple matches per fan trip. Cities hosting many matches — especially New York, Miami, and Dallas — are likely to see the biggest boost in accommodation revenue. According to economists, this inflow will offer a strong short-term lift to the hotel and travel industries, with potential longer-term gains from repeat visits. Read more
Hotel101 to expand in Milan with 429-room project
Hotel101 Global has announced plans to build a 429-room condotel in the San Donato Milanese area — its second hotel project in Europe. The property will be built on a 1.4-hectare site, about seven minutes from Milan Linate Airport and close to metro connections. Hotel101 expects the project (targeted for completion by 2028) to generate around €85.8 million from unit sales. Amenities will include a 25-meter pool, gym, 24/7 reception, dining outlet, business facilities, and children’s play areas — all under a mid-range, four-star offering. Read more.

Hong Kong tycoon Henry Cheng seeks sale of some Rosewood hotels
Henry Cheng is reportedly exploring the sale of several luxury properties under Rosewood Hotel Group. The decision forms part of efforts by the family’s real-estate vehicle New World Development to address liquidity pressures. The Rosewood portfolio includes 58 properties globally, including the flagship property that was recently ranked top in a global hotels list. Adina launches first UK hotels, marking UK debut
Adina Apartment Hotels — operated by Australia’s TFE Hotels — has launched its first UK properties with the opening of The Hobson Cambridge by Adina and the upcoming opening of The Wellington Glasgow by Adina. The Hobson Cambridge opened 24 November in a Grade II-listed building, combining historic architectural features — vaulted ceilings, timber beams — with modern apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes, aimed at short or long stays. Greece’s first luxury hotel in Crete sets opening date
INNSiDE Elounda by Meliá — the first luxury lifestyle resort on Crete by Meliá Hotels International — will open on 1 May 2026. The resort will comprise 86 rooms and suites, many featuring sea views, and 18 units with private pools. Facilities will include fine Mediterranean dining, leisure amenities, and curated experiences such as in-room yoga and local cultural touches. The resort’s seaside setting near Elounda Bay positions it as a high-end destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and access to Crete’s cultural heritage. Read more.
