Hotels combining sustainability with heritage and culture
Some hotels and resorts are moving beyond basic “green” ticking-box exercises. Instead, they’re embedding eco-friendly design into heritage buildings, re-using old furniture, using local crafts, and weaving in local art and culture. Properties such as a restored medieval-era hotel in Barcelona, a repurposed industrial-past building in New York, and a lagoon-side resort in Morocco show this trend in action. The result: lower carbon footprint, more authentic guest experiences, and a sense that sustainability can feel luxurious when combined with locality and history.. Read more
Delta Air hit by $200 million loss but travel demand returning
Delta Air Lines announced that the recent U.S. government shutdown will reduce its fourth-quarter pre-tax profit by about US$200 million (roughly 25¢ per share). The shutdown led to flight cancellations and reduced operations due to staffing shortages at the Federal Aviation Administration. National hospitality-safety programme launched to combat rising risks

Overnight stays at South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park closed due to water-pipeline failure
Hotels and lodges at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, including El Tovar Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge and Maswik Lodge, have suspended overnight accommodation starting December 6 due to breaks in the park’s only water pipeline. The aging 12.5-mile-long Transcanyon Waterline failed, cutting water supply to lodges, campgrounds, and even to the 2,500 residents in Grand Canyon Village. Park officials say day-visitors are still welcome and lodging outside the park remains unaffected. Repairs are underway; there’s hope to restore water service soon — but long-term reliability remains a concern. Read more.
